Walter and Andrée de Nottbeck Foundation, founded in1970

Walter and Andrèe de Nottbeck Foundation has had a crucial role in supporting marine research at Tvärminne Zoological Station since the foundation was established over 50 years ago. Now we want to support new groundbreaking research at Tvärminne. The idea is to integrate research in marine ecological, biogeochemical and atmospheric processes in order to increase our understanding on interactions between biodiversity and climate.

An interdisciplinary Centre for coastal ecosystem and climate research has recently been established at Tvärminne Zoological Station. The new research center requires new infrastructure and new personnel for measuring the greenhouse gases both in the sea and in the atmosphere. At the same time, the capacity to connect these measurements with the changes in the sea is built up.

You can join us by contributing either to Nottbeck Foundation’s own anniversary campaign or to the University of Helsinki campaign Marine Research in Tvärminne.

The foundation has a licence to collect money RA/2021/1609 permitted by the National Police Board. The licence covers whole Finland, with the exception of Åland. The funds donated will be used for supporting marine research at Tvärminne Zoological Station, University of Helsinki.

The foundation is appointed by the National Police Board as a receiver of deductible donations during 2020-2024. Donations made to the foundation of EUR 850 - 50.000 are tax deductible for corporations.

Donations for the campaign at the University of Helsinki

Donations for the campaign at the University of Helsinki can be made online by selecting Marine Research in Tvärminne as a donation destination. A greeting message can be written in the message/request concerning the allocation of the  donation field. The donations made to the University of Helsinki for more than EUR 850 are tax deductible for both individuals and organizations.

Donations can also be made via bank transfer to the University of Helsinki Funds

The funds will support the tasks given in §2 in the Universities Act (558/2009). University of Helsinki is responsible for the fundraising.
